Chapter 2!!! Recap: Anthony broke up with Priya over AIM (what a jerk!) and she went to the park and wrote a song. Someone heard the song. Now chapter 2... ------------------------------------- Her notebook fell to the ground, and on impulse, she jumped off the tree and reached for it. The guy beat her to it, though. "Give it back!" she said, realizing that she was gasping for air. Why wouldn't she be? That notebook was practically her life story, except for rather than journal entries, there were numerous poems and songs. "Are you okay?" he asked her. "Yeah, whatev. I'd tell you, but I don't know you. And besides, everybody asks that but never bothers for the answer." she replied harshly. "I guess I should clear this up then. I'm Nicholas Jerry Jonas." The moment he said that, she leaned against the tree and closed her eyes as memories flooded through her head. Why, you ask? Those are the exact same words Anthony said to her the day they met. Tears she'd been trying to hold throughout the entire conversation fell to the ground, mixing with the rain without a trace. She sat down, still crying. After what seemed like forever, she finally controlled her emotions again. As she opened her eyes, she saw Nicholas sitting next to her. It looked as if he was waiting for something. "What do you want? Can't you just leave me alone! And who asked you to stay here?!? It's bad enough that you heard my stupid song, and then you hang around pretending to care!" Priya snapped. She looked away, then added softly, "Just leave me like everyone else I've ever known. See if I care, I'm used to it anyways. If it didn't hurt when mom did it, it definitely won't hurt if you do." He looked surprisingly calm compared to how furious she was. "Your notebook," he said, holding it out to her. "Huh?" "Your notebook," he repeated, smiling gently. Priya freaked out. "If you read even a little bit of what I have written there, I hope you feel like a criminal refugee. I'll have you know that's my entire life you have in your hands right there." "Don't worry, I didn't read it. I know how much a song can mean to someone," he assured her genuinely. "No kidding," she replied as she took her book back. "I'm Priyanka. Or Priya, if you will." "Now you can't say you don't know me," he said with a grin. She smiled back, but it faded away. Noticing her sudden change of expression, he said, "Whaddup?" "Listen. I'm sorry for flipping out on you earlier. I was...it was... everything was..." Priya tried to explain her rude behavior. "Falling apart at the seams?" he asked, quoting her lyrics. Her lips broke into a smile. "Yeah, basically." "That's okay." "No, really. I had no right to take my anger towards Anthony out on you." the second the last sentence rolled out of her mouth she regretted it. He raised his eyebrows.
